Prayer Is Our Conversation With God.
Prayer is often thought about as words … lots of words … unsurprisingly, since words form a key part of human communication.
But good conversation is two-way, and good prayer involves listening inwardly as well, to prompts from the spirit of God, through intellect and feelings.
When Jesus’ disciples asked to be taught how to pray Jesus taught them this:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name;
your kingdom come;
your will be done on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread
and forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom,
the power and glory are yours,
now and forever.
There are formal prayers and corporate prayers, personal prayers and meditations of all sorts.
Prayer is said each morning in Saint Ninian’s between 9.15 and 9.45 and all are welcome to join.
Prayers are offered throughout each day by the clergy in their normal parish work.
